Each year, subsidiaries of The Schwan Food Company are recognized for their products, services and programs. In 2015, the company received several recognitions:
The Schwan Food Company was named “Sustainable Processor of the Year” by Refrigerated & Frozen Foods magazine. The recognition honors cold food manufacturers and shippers for their commitment to reducing emissions, optimizing their supply-chain network, enhancing logistics and transportation models or by increasing “green” awareness through internal corporate sustainability programs.
Schwan’s Home Service, Inc. received the Northwest Indiana Partners for Clean Air Award in the business category. The Clean Air Awards program honors Northwest Indiana and Chicago-area businesses, industry and community groups that work voluntarily to promote clean air. Schwan’s Home Service was recognized for its use of alternative fuels in its home-delivery fleet.
Schwan’s Food Service, Inc.’s convenience store team was named “Vendor of the Year” for the Fresh Foods Division by 7-Eleven.
Two SFC Global Supply Chain, Inc. facilities were recognized with the Minnesota Governor’s Safety Award. The facilities recognized include the dry-storage warehouse and plastics plant located in Marshall, Minnesota. In Kentucky, the company’s distribution center in Walton was honored with a similar recognition. Employees at the facility were recognized with a Kentucky State Governor’s Safety and Health Award.
The Red Baron® Pizza Squadron was inducted into the International Hall of Fame for its impact in the North American air-show industry. The Squadron was used to help promote Red Baron® pizza from 1979 through 2007.
SFC Global Supply Chain’s pizza plant in Salina, Kansas, received a “Gold Pretreatment Compliance Award” from the Kansas Water Environment Association. The recognition is given to companies that exceed local and federal pretreatment compliance requirements.
Schwan’s Consumer Brands was named Walmart’s “Product Supplier of the Year” in the grocery category for demonstrating excellence in the launch of a pizza product. The award was received in 2014 for services in 2013.
Schwan’s Home Service received the “Above and Beyond Award” from the Minnesota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) state committee. The award recognizes employers whose employees have nominated them for going above and beyond their obligations of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.
Two SFC Global Supply Chain facilities were recognized with the Minnesota Governor’s Safety Award. The facilities recognized include the dry-storage warehouse and plastics plant located in Marshall, Minnesota. At the time of the award, the dry-storage warehouse had not had a lost-time accident in 14 years and the plastics plant had achieved 12 years. Both facilities earned the “Award of Honor,” which means their accident rate is at least 91 percent better than the industry average.
The SFC Global Supply Chain distribution center in Walton, Kentucky, was recognized with a Kentucky State Governor’s Safety and Health Award. At the time of the award, the facility had operated for more than 439,400 working hours without a lost-time injury.
